Dragon Fire Poker with Forge Welded Hook
Dragons- born for fires! This little guy is a stout but small poker for a small fire or woodstove. He has a bit of a surprised face, and a very pleasant feel in the hand. The head and the poker end are both made using forge welding, a traditional technique for bonding steels.
The hole he hangs on is formed using slitting and drifting, and getting the diamond-hex shape is incredibly challenging without a proper form- this was done freehand on the anvil.
The handle is a comfortable, smooth octagonal.
The hanger is included, and perhaps ironically is my favorite part! The T on the base of the tail is impossible to forge cleanly, but this one is phenomenal! The tail is held on by 2 tri-clout rivets, securing it to the backplate. The brass screws are included, and add a beautiful contrast.
This piece has an oiled finish, and I am happy to teach you how to maintain that, as I intend this piece to last until the return of Christ!
Thanks for looking, and God bless you!
